Tuesday 17th September 4-6 pm B123 NEW PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors New Mentor Training – this session is for both NEW PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors. It is an introduction to LJMU expectations, processes and procedures.
Thursday 7th November 2019 4-6 pm B123 PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors Phase 2 Expectations/Phase Specific Planning and Target Setting – this session is for both PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors.
  • The first part of the session will introduce the key expectations for the transition into Phase 2.
  • The second part of the session will introduce planning, target setting and undertaking lesson observations in phase specific groups.
Wednesday 6th November 2019 4-6 pm B123 Primary UG Y3 ITT Mentors Phase 3 Expectations – this session is for primary UG Y3 ITT Mentors and is an introduction to the expectations, paperwork and accountability of trainee judgements for the transition to Phase 3 for when a trainee is moving from 'good' to 'outstanding'’ in their practice, with a particular focus upon target setting for individual needs.
Thursday 21st November 2019 4-6 pm B004 All ITT Mentors – Primary or Secondary based Effective/Advanced Mentor Recognition – The process of mentor recognition will be discussed and there will be an opportunity to self-reflect and review what your role is in the context of the teaching and mentoring standards.
  1. The first part of the session will introduce mentor recognition.
  2. The second part of the session will give attendees time to process the paperwork or to have their completed paperwork reviewed by one of the trainers.
Tuesday 26th November 2019 4-6 pm B123 All ITT Mentors – UG & PG Primary or Secondary based The Additional Support Framework (ASF) – The ASF process and procedure will be discussed in depth including the setting of appropriate targets to support trainees as part of a structured intervention action plan.
Wednesday 4th December 2019 4-6 pm B123 PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors The Alternative Placement and the transition to Phase 2b – this session is for both PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors who will be supporting trainees in their alternative placement.
  1. The first part of the session will introduce the key expectations for the transition into Phase 2b.
  2. The second part of the session will focus upon using the LJMU ITT Tracking document to set realistic targets in weekly meetings with trainees and how to support their progress.
Wednesday 11th December 2019 4-6 pm B123 Primary UG Y3 ITT Mentors The Triangulation Process – this session is for primary Y3 ITT Mentors who will be engaging in the triangulation process and will be using evidence and the LJMU ITT Tracking Document to support the indicative grade given to trainees' at the end of their Phase 3 placement.
Tuesday 14th January 2020 4-6 pm B123 All ITT Mentors – Primary or Secondary based Effective/Advanced Mentor RecognitionTHIS IS A REPEAT OF THE SESSION FROM 21st NOVEMBER 2019. The process of mentor recognition will be discussed and there will be an opportunity to self-reflect and review what your role is in the context of the teaching and mentoring standards.

Thursday 30th January 2020 4-6 pm B123 Primary UG Y2 ITT Mentors Phase 2 Expectations – this session is for UG Primary ITT Mentors and is an introduction to the expectations, paperwork and accountability of trainee judgements for the transition to Phase 2. The session will focus upon using the LJMU ITT Tracking document to set realistic targets in weekly meetings with trainees. As trainees are starting to embed differentiation in their practice, target setting for S5 will be explored in depth.
Wednesday 12th February 2020 4-6 pm B123 All ITT Mentors – UG & PG Primary or Secondary based The Additional Support Framework (ASF)THIS IS A REPEAT OF THE SESSION FROM 26th NOVEMBER 2019. The ASF process and procedure will be discussed in depth including the setting of appropriate targets to support trainees as part of a structured intervention action plan.
Tuesday 25th February 2020 4-6 pm M209 PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors Phase 3 Expectations/Phase Specific Target Setting – this session is for both PG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary ITT Mentors.
  1. The first part of the session will introduce the key expectations, paperwork and accountability of trainee judgements for the transition to Phase 3 for when a trainee is moving from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ in their practice.
  2. The second part of the session will embed target setting in phase specific groups, with a particular focus upon target setting for individual needs. In addition, evidence towards attaining S2, S5 and S6 will be discussed.
Wednesday 25th March 2020 4-6 pm B123 UG Primary Y1 ITT Mentors Phase 1 Expectations – this session is for UG Y1 ITT Mentors.
  1. The first part of the session will introduce the key expectations for Phase 1 UG trainees.
  2. The second part of the session will introduce planning and target setting in weekly meetings.

Tuesday 12th May 2020 2-4 pm B123 PG and UG 3-7 & 5-11 Primary and Secondary Professional Mentors Partnership Update – this session is for Professional Mentors in schools. The session will update PMs on key partnership developments and expectations for all.
Tuesday 16th June 2020 4-6 pm B123 All ITT/Professional Mentors – Primary or Secondary based Effective and Advanced Mentor Recognition – this session is an opportunity to discuss the submission of your completed Effective or Advanced Mentor Recognition document. There will be an opportunity to self-reflect and review what your role is in the context of the teaching and mentoring standards and signed completed forms can be submitted at this session.
