New to Mentoring (Beginner)

Welcome and thank you for mentoring our LJMU student teachers. Sections A—E provide an overview of the teaching model and programme. As you are beginning initial mentor training, you can complete 16 funded hours of mentor training (see DfE guidance).

General Mentor Development page.

To support workload, LJMU mentor training is split into live online training and asynchronous mentor training on the Abyasa portal. The live dates have been provided in advance and equate to 6 hours mentor training. Mentor development focuses on subject and phase specific mentoring, target setting and feedback. Pivotal practice is explored through the four ITaPs (Intensive Training and Practice). Expert colleagues lead you through university and school-based input, enactment and assessment of Behaviours for Learning, Reflection, Observation & Planning, Adaptive Teaching and Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice.
